Mt Hurtle Winery was brought by Geoff Merrill in 1985 in a rundown state. After two years of loving care and hard work, the winery was restored to its former glory and fit for modern day winemaking. The Tuscan charm of the original winery remained.

Geoff Merrill has continued to gain national and international recognition for his distinctive style of winemaking and his zest for life. The Geoff Merrill winemaking philosophy has been, and always will be, to make wine that allows regional, varietal and vintage expression, without excessive winemaker intervention.
